FAQs

1. What is Sound Therapy and how can it help me?

Given that everything is made of vibrational frequency, including ourselves, it makes sense that sound frequencies impact how we feel. That's why particular songs and types of music often bring about specific types of emotions in us. Sound healing, which is an ancient healing technique that uses tonal frequencies to bring the body into a state of vibrational balance and harmony, plays upon this as well. And when we are in balance and harmony, we flow with the tides of life. We feel more joyous and our ability to handle challenges becomes easier to manage.

2. What can I expect from a Sound Healing Session?

Like with most alternative healing practices, everyone's experience is different, and new things may arise in each session. Most people will feel very relaxed and peaceful during a sound healing; some might have visualizations, receive creative downloads, or have an emotional breakthrough.

All you have to do is wear comfortable clothing and show up with the intention to allow yourself this time to relax and repair your body, mind, and soul. After that, you may drift off to sleep or meditate and travel wherever the sounds and your imagination may take you. The sounds you may hear during a session could be Tibetan bowls, a gong, chimes, tuning forks, Sansula, or Shaman shakers; every session will be tailored to each guest on that particular day, as our energy and vibrational patterns change day to day, moment to moment we need to change which frequencies we receive to find that perfect harmony.

Your Sound Healer will use an array of soothing instruments to provide an atmosphere that will entrain your nervous system allowing your brain to slow its vibrations to achieve lower brain wave states. Healing and repair occur in these lower brain wave states. When was the last time you were able to truly RELAX and REPAIR yourself?

3. What are the benefits of Sound Therapy?

Deep relaxation is one of the most significant and universal benefits of sound therapy. With our busy schedules and so much going on in the world, we can all use some chill vibes.

Some people experience deep healing during sound therapy as the sound vibrations open, clear, and balance their chakras and release stuck energy. It can be described as an "energetic deep tissue massage" that leaves you feeling balanced and replenished.

Benefits can include improved sleep, reduction of chronic pain and blood pressure, lowered cholesterol, a decreased risk of heart disease, a balanced nervous system (the body’s electrical system), and reduced anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms. Sound Therapy helps balance and clear the mind which leads to renewed sense of purpose, well-being, calm, and happiness.

4. What is Reiki and how can it help me?

In Japanese, Reiki is interpreted as “Spiritual Energy” and is also known as Universal Life Force Energy. Life Force Energy brings life, vitality, and health to all things and beings. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive hands-on healing technique that is beneficial on all levels- mind, body, and soul. Reiki is utilized to infuse the guest with this Life Force Energy allowing it to flow through the meridians of the body and create healing where healing is needed. Energy can become "stuck" in the body after a physical or emotional injury. It is believed that after time, it can begin to block the flow of energy which can lead to illness. Reiki sessions are structured around helping the guest relax. When the relaxation response is activated it can diminish anxiety, pain, nausea, and fatigue. Other reported benefits have been lowered blood pressure and stress levels, improvement in chronic pain, and can be helpful with sleep disorders.

5. What can I expect during a Reiki Session?

Reiki is a 60 or 90-minute session where the guest remains fully dressed but has removed their shoes. The guest lies on a massage table while the practitioner uses a gentle touch or simply places their hands over the guest to transfer energy. Some sound therapy instruments may or may not be used as well but there will always be soft soothing music playing during a reiki session to help the guest relax deeply.

6. What is Breathwork and why is it so important?

Breathwork is a powerful way to access your body’s innate intelligence to heal itself. Breathwork, the conscious awareness of your breath, is a practice that is thousands of years old, and while there are many variations, styles, and names, all types of breathwork offer the chance for personal transformation through improved mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Our breath, or prana, is literally what keeps us alive, and yet, so often, we go through the day chronically shallow breathing, denying ourselves our full life force which often keeps us in a state of anxiety, or fight or flight. Breathwork, or the process of deep rhythmic breathing, moves us out of fight or flight and into the parasympathetic nervous system.

Breathwork benefits are simple to achieve, after you’ve been taught how to breathe properly you can easily implement this self-care practice every day at any time. Benefits include reduced anxiety, depression, anger and grief. Increased happiness, joy, self-love, and awareness. A rise in energy levels and enhanced immunity have also been proven by those who practice breathwork regularly. Improve digestion, reduce pain and release toxins from your body simply by breathing intentionally!
